Dear Colleagues

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Fred Zufryden passed away yesterday, after a long battle with cancer. Fred was the Ernest W. Hahn Professor of Marketing. After receiving three degrees from UCLA, Fred joined USC in 1971, and spent virtually his entire academic career here as a vital part of the growth and development of USC Marshall’s Department of Marketing.

Fred will be remembered as a dedicated teacher and outstanding scholar who wrote more than 100 articles and papers, won several “best article” awards, and was cited by the American Marketing Association as one of the leading contributors to the field of marketing.

Fred was a founding member of the Marketing Science Conference, which has emerged as the most widely attended and important conferences for marketing scholars in the quantitative area. Fred also played a key role in USC Marshall’s growth and development, serving as chair of the Department of Marketing and Director of Research Projects for IBEAR among many other positions over the years.
