Assurance of Learning in Marketing Education

Deadline for Submission of Manuscripts:
June 30, 2008

"Assessment enables educators to examine whether the curriculum makes sense in its entirety and whether students, as a result of all their experiences, have the knowledge, skills, and values that graduates should possess." Palomba and Banta, Assessment Essentials, 1999, p. 7

Assurance of learning has become a very important aspect of higher education. As the leading scholarly journal devoted to issues in marketing education, the Journal of Marketing Education seeks to publish a special issue on Assurance of Learning in Marketing Education. This special issue is intended to provide insight, analysis, evaluation and examples of assessment best practices, concepts, frameworks, and technologies being used by educators to assess marketing education. Topics that could improve the assessment of marketing education are most appropriate for this special issue. The objective is to publish both empirical and conceptual contributions that could help faculty and administrators evaluate student learning outcomes, strengthen their assurance of learning processes, and improve the effectiveness of marketing programs.

Although the focus is on marketing education, we welcome manuscripts from outside the marketing or business field that provide frameworks or information that would increase the efficiency and effectiveness of programmatic assurance of learning efforts.

Authors should follow the general submission guidelines of the Journal of Marketing Education found at the back of any current JME issue as well as the publisher’s (Sage) Web site http://jmd.sagepub.com/ or they may be requested from either Special Issue Co-Editor. All manuscripts should be submitted electronically to either of the Special Issue Co-Editors using their email addresses below:
