H-E-B School of Business and Administration
University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, TX
Due to rapid enrollment growth, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), America’s largest Catholic and Hispanic-serving institution, invites applications for two tenure track appointments at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in marketing (advertising or international preferred).
History: UIW was founded by the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, whose mission emphasizes social justice and community service. Over 125 years later, UIW has a quickly expanding student population over 6,000. Named and supported by a prominent grocery chain (sales over $13 billion), the H-E-B School of Business & Administration is the largest of UIW’s seven colleges and schools.
Location: San Antonio boasts an affordable cost of living in a fast-growing major multi-lingual metropolis. Famous as a tourist destination and conference center, San Antonio features such attractions as the Riverwalk, the Alamo, theme parks, and museums. UIW’s spectacular main campus, with its wooded trails and beautiful landscaping, is located in the exclusive Alamo Heights neighborhood — under three miles from downtown San Antonio, easily accessible to shopping and many fine restaurants. Nearby are outdoor and nature activities, with the Texas Hill Country, Gulf of Mexico, and Mexican border each two hours drive away or less.
Position: Faculty responsibilities include teaching, scholarship, professional development and service. One of the two successful Marketing candidates will coordinate for their discipline undergraduate and graduate program class schedules, qualifications of adjunct faculty, and text book selection. As part of their normal load, faculty members have the opportunity to teach in San Antonio, the Virtual University, and the full-fledged UIW campuses in Mexico City, Mexico and Guangzhou, China. Faculty travel is normally 100% funded, as is release time for research and other major developmental activities.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctorate in business or another doctorate with 18 hours of graduate coursework in the discipline, completed by August 2008. An intrinsic excitement about teaching and interaction with students is highly valued at UIW. Integral to high quality instruction is a record or aptitude for scholarship related to the candidate’s teaching.
Process: Appointments begin August 2008. Application review starts January 7, 2008 and continues until the positions are filled. Candidates must complete an online application at http://jobs.uiw.edu and include a cover letter, current vita, and reference list. The University of the Incarnate Word has a strong commitment to diversity and urges members of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups to apply.
