Marketing

The Department of Management within the College of Business at Central Washington University seeks applicants for a tenure-track, Assistant or Associate Professor position in Marketing. This position is located at the Ellensburg campus, 110 miles east of Seattle. The department has 16 full-time faculty members and offers an attractive teaching load with small classes and a relaxed teaching environment. The College of Business has a strong teaching orientation and requires a commitment to students through research and advising. The College is currently pursuing AACSB accreditation.

The successful candidate is expected to teach a number of core marketing courses such as Principles, Marketing Research or Consumer Behavior as well as marketing electives (see preferred). Members of the faculty are also required to: advise students, provide service to the university, college, department, and community, and conduct research and publish in their fields. The demonstrated ability or potential to produce peer-reviewed published research is essential. Research is supported through reduced teaching loads and funding from a variety of sources.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ph.D. in Marketing or related field, from an AACSB accredited institution (strong candidates who are nearing completion of the dissertation will be considered)
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in marketing courses. (e.g. Summary of teaching evaluations)
  • Evidence of scholarship/research in Marketing field.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching upper division marketing courses
  • Interest/experience in teaching courses from among international marketing, sports marketing, not-for-profit marketing, marketing promotion, and marketing problems and policy.
  • Published articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Salary and Benefits: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Depending on the needs of the Department, an opportunity to teach summer classes for additional compensation may be available. Benefits include medical, dental, life, and disability insurance as well as retirement contributions. Washington has no state income tax.

Start Date: Open to negotiation, preferably January 2008. Initial screening of applicants will begin September 28th.

About the College of Business: The College has the equivalent of nearly 1,300 full-time equivalent students and about 48 full-time faculty in four academic departments: Accounting, Management, Finance & OSC, and Economics.
