Nominations for Editor Invited

Emerald Group Publishing invites nominations for the position of Editor of Direct Marketing: An International Journal, to replace Dr Bruce Keillor who has indicated his intention to step down from the role.

Direct Marketing: An International Journal is produced specifically for academics, business practitioners, and others engaged in direct and multi-channel marketing activities. The journal combines academic research with practitioner-focused, “best practice”, application-based content.

The role includes:

  • Sourcing, reviewing and providing appropriate content for the journal, which reflects leading international research and the latest thinking in the subject area.
  • Maintaining and contributing to the strategic development of the journal, in line with the specified strategies and action plans contained in each individual Journal Management and Development Plan (agreed in consultation with the Publisher).
  • Developing and maintaining a network of contacts which will act as a source of papers and other content for the journal.
  • Appointing and reviewing the Editorial Advisory Board (EAB).
  • Meeting the editorial content aims as agreed with the Publisher, and revisiting editorial aims when appropriate to reflect developments in the subject area.
  • Arranging and managing the peer review system, where appropriate.
  • Maintaining and developing the quality of the content, as agreed with the Publisher.
  • Promoting the journal at relevant conferences and to interested colleagues, where appropriate.
  • Meeting the deadlines for delivery of the manuscripts to Emerald.
  • Ensuring that each manuscript is supplied via Emerald’s online system where appropriate, or on disk, and adheres to the author guidelines. Articles that are not submitted via the online system need to be accompanied by a completed Journal Article Record (JAR) form.

All nominations, including self-nominations, should include a current CV along with a covering letter, describing:

  • previous editorial experience
  • what the nominee can bring to the journal in terms of experience and personal qualities
  • ideas for the future of the journal, i.e. how it should develop and how can this be achieved.

The closing date for applications is 17 October 2007.

Please e-mail all nominations to Martyn Lawrence, Publisher of DMIJ, at mlawrence@emeraldinsight.com
