Dear Professors:

You are cordially invited to attend the 2007 Direct and Interactive Marketing Case Writers’ Workshop in Chicago, IL on Saturday, October 13, 2007.   (See the end of this note for Action Items – REGISTRATION IS OPEN!)

This event, co-sponsored by the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation and the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing Educational Foundation, will take place at the Hyatt Regency Chicago – followed the next day by the 2007 DMEF Direct/Interactive Marketing Research Summit (formerly Educators’ Conference).

This year I have joined Dr. J. Steven Kelly of DePaul University as his working partner in the operation and facilitation of the Case Writers’ Workshop. Dr. Kelly will continue his excellent work in identifying and gaining the cooperation of companies that have important case-story potential. My main role will be in working directly with you to help you:

Identify a case that intrigues you

Find the right partner or partners to write with

Get your case organized, outlined, written, approved, and considered for book publication

Help you over the rough spots at any point while you’re working on your case

(Hopefully) applaud you as you win 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize at the 2008 DMEF Direct/Interactive Marketing Research Summit and see your case published in the next Readings and Cases book edition.

Here are a few words about my credentials as a case writer and mentor for future case writers. I am entering my 18th year as Professor of Marketing at Ferris State University. I was the 1997 winner of DMEF’s Robert B. Clarke Outstanding Educator Award. Over the years I have won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place “best case” honors from the Case Writers’ Workshop for various cases written alone, with one partner, and with up to three partners.

I have presented “how to write cases” material numerous times at DMEF events along with Dr. Kelly. And with Dr. Kelly I am the co-editor of the book Readings and Cases in Integrated Marketing Communications (RACOM Books), which publishes the best cases produced thorough the Case Writers’ Workshop. The second edition of this book is currently in the editing process.  For a look at my full bio and vita, please visit
