Professor in Consumer Food Choice at the MAPP Centre

The Department of Marketing and Statistics at Aarhus School of Business, University of Aarhus invites applications for a professor position in consumer food choice. The position will be linked to MAPP – Centre for Research on Customer Relations in the Food Sector. MAPP is a world-class research environment dealing with questions relating to the marketing of food and drink, and has consumer behaviour and consumer-led product development as key competence areas. The position is a 5 year position with an obligation to research and teach. The position is renewable after 5 years. Research activities will be integrated into the research portfolio at the MAPP Centre, and it is expected that the applicant will take an active role in the acquisition and leadership of external research projects in the consumer food choice area both at the national and the European level, and has experience in conducting research in consortia composed of research institutions and industry participants. The applicant will join the team of senior researchers at the MAPP Centre and will participate in strategic and management tasks related to the operations of the Centre. Excellent skills and a superior track record of publications in renowned refereed journals as well as good abilities to communicate with stakeholders in the food industry are required, as well as good teaching skills. Furthermore, it is expected that the applicant will be able to teach in English.

The applicants will be evaluated by an expert assessment committee whose recommendations of each applicant will be sent to the applicant. Priority will be given to the applicant who can document a high level of original scientific research at an international level, and furthermore who shows a great future research potential in regards to developing the research area in question. Furthermore, the expert assessment committee will consider the applicant’s ability to undertake research management and related administrative posts as well as teaching qualifications.

Candidates, who are found qualified for the position by the expert assessment committee, may be invited for an interview and may be asked to give a test lecture. The committee is authorized to ask for supplementary material if this is deemed necessary.

The appointment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associates. The current annual salary is approximately DKK 532,000 (EUR 71.000) plus a pension bonus of 17.1%. The school also offers a generous sabbatical agreement with research sabbatical every 9th semester.

ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORS

The Department of Language and Business Communication at the Aarhus School of Business (ASB), University of Aarhus, invites applications for two positions of Associate Professor or, alternatively, Assistant Professor in Culture. All other things being equal, preference will be given to well qualified applicants for the positions of Associate Professor. The successful candidates will be expected to take up appointment by 1 January 2008 subject to mutual agreement.

We are interested in ambitious assistant/associate professors who will contribute to the further development of the academic and social environment in the department through innovative research, teaching and personal commitment. The successful candidates will become members of CEBERU, the newly established departmental unit for interdisciplinary research in culture in organizations and their environment, and will be required to contribute significantly to the unit’s research as well as to its development. Candidates with documented research in business-oriented cultural studies will be preferred but it is not a prerequisite. The successful candidates will also become members of the English teaching group of the Department of Language and Business Communication and have teaching obligations in the fields of intercultural communication, cultural studies and related areas.

The Department of Language and Business Communication is a large department which is primarily engaged in business-oriented humanities research and education. Our research focuses on business language, texts, communication, culture, and knowledge management. In addition, the department is involved in the teaching of ASB programmes in language for specific purposes, corporate communication and European studies.

We are organised in a dynamic matrix structure comprising a number of open research and teaching groups, and we offer a good working environment for furthering the development of the competences of our academic staff with regard to both research and teaching. The position of assistant professor is a three-year tenure-track position with research and teaching obligations. Applicants must have a relevant PhD or similar academic qualifications before taking up the position. A strong interest in research and good teaching skills are imperative.

The position of associate professor is a permanent position with research and teaching obligations. These include pedagogical guidance/supervision of assistant professors and doctoral students, assessment work, teaching, preparation of and participation in administrative work, and a duty to contribute to the scientific development of the research area. Although previous employment as an assistant professor is not a prerequisite, candidates should have qualifications corresponding to what may be expected to have been achieved on the basis of a three-year assistant professorship with research obligations. Applicants should provide documentation of their research publications and of their teaching qualifications/experience.

Applicants for either position who are not native speakers of English must have a post-graduate degree in English language or similar qualifications. Applicants who are native speakers of English must have a proven interest in the use of English in intercultural contexts.
