Assistant Professor of Marketing (tenure track)

The Guanghua School of Management, Peking University has undergone major changes to be a leading business school in China and Asia. As an important component of a prestigious, top-ranked university in China, the School receives strong support from China’s vibrant business community. The school provides excellent research and teaching environments to those who would like to join a business team that is establishing its regional and world recognition.

The marketing department currently consists of 11 members, with a new person joining us from the University of Michigan this fall. It is a young, promising and mutually supportive team. With reasonable research grants and support, our current research environment is comparable to a good research and teaching university in US. The teaching environment is challenging. Our BBA, MBA, Masters (by research) and PhD programs attract the best students from all parts of China. Normal teaching load is at three courses per year. Teaching is highly interactive and dynamic.

We anticipate adding one new assistant professor position in the coming year. We are interested in candidates with expertise in empirical research methods, with a supporting functional area (e.g., marketing channels, business marketing, high-tech marketing, global marketing, and pricing). Young scholars and doctoral candidates with demonstrated research potential to publish in top journals plus good teaching are essential for the assistant professor position. Chinese language ability would be advantageous.

The annual salary for assistant rank begins around US$40,000, with additional housing subsidies (RMB200,000), settling-down allowance (RMB150,000) and research support (RMB50,000), the total package is high above other universities in China and compares well with universities in most parts of Asia. (US$1 approx. RMB7.73). This position is subject to budgetary approval.
