The University wishes to strengthen its complement of marketing staff by appointing a specialist in Quantitative Social Science Research Methods. Based in the School of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development you will be a research active team player who can contribute to teaching quantitative methods across our undergraduate and postgraduate marketing-related programmes. You should have a background in quantitative social science, preferably including the use of multivariate techniques in survey data analysis. A background in marketing is not a requirement but you will be expected to collaborate with other members of the marketing group on existing and future research projects.

Preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds in advertising or communications and have taught advertising courses.

Candidates for Assistant Professor must have a PhD in Marketing, Communications, Advertising or a related field (or plan to complete it by Fall 2007), strong research skills and the potential to publish in leading academic journals. Candidates for Associate Professor must have, in addition, a distinguished track record of publication in leading journals and evidence of strong teaching performance. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and rank. Candidates nearing completion of their PhD, if selected, will be offered an appointment as Assistant Professor contingent on completion of the degree. If this contingency is not met  prior to the starting date, the appointment will revert to an instructorship.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Marketing

Purpose Statement:

To participate in the research programme, deliver papers and supervise research students, as appropriate, in Marketing.

Responsible To:

Head of Department, Department of Commerce

Key Accountability Areas:
Teaching/Supervision

  1. Undertake undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching.
  2. Develop and teach major curriculum components of courses.
  3. Coordinate and administer the teaching of subjects.
  4. Supervise the research activities of graduate and undergraduate students and assist in the supervision of students research projects at a postgraduate level.
  5. Undertake continuing personal professional development.

Research

  1. Undertake an active, appropriate and viable personal research programme or participate in team based research.
  2. Publish papers or other scholarly works in academic journals and review papers and the like.
  3. Present research and act as a discussant at academic conferences.
  4. Generate research funding.

Service to the Community

  1. Participate in community service activities that further advance the profession or field and which are consistent with the University’s Charter and Strategic Plan.
  2. Assist the department to develop an environment which gives effect to the obligations of the Treaty of Waitangi.

Full-time tenure-track academic position in Marketing or Finance

Profile:

Ph.D. in management sciences or economics, willingness to develop and publish original research in one of the fields mentioned below in cooperation within the faculty as well as in close connection with the international research community, ability to teach classes in French, good pedagogical quality for an adult education program.

Duties:

Duties include research and teaching activities in one of the following fields: marketing within the CeRCLe (Center for Research on Consumption and Leisure – http://www.fundp.ac.be/cercle) or corporate finance in the CeReFiM (Center for Research in Finance and Management http://www.fundp.ac.be/facultes/eco/recherche/).

The appointment starts in September 2007.
