The faculty in the School of Global Management and Leadership at Arizona State University’s West campus is deeply saddened to report the passing of a valued member of our Marketing Department, Dr. Terry Bristol, who died in his sleep on Monday, November 6, 2006.

Dr. Bristol, who began his career in the School of Global Management and Leadership in 2000, received his doctorate in Marketing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.  In Fall 2006, he was granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor.  Prior to joining ASU, Terry was an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Oklahoma State University.

Among his accolades, Terry was awarded the Arkansas Advertising Federation’s Distinguished Educator Award.  In addition, he served on editorial review boards for the Journal of Retailing, from which he earned the 2006 Outstanding Reviewer award, the Academy of Marketing Science Review, and the Journal of Consumer & Market Research.  He was also active in the Association for Consumer Research, where he co-managed the Association’s listserve.

Terry is survived by his two children, Christine and Tyler.

The SGML is organizing a memorial web page where friends and colleagues can post comments, as well as implementing a scholarship in Terry’s honor.  The details of both will follow.
