Nominations for the Richard Pollay Prize for Intellectual Excellence
in the Study of Marketing in the Public Interest
UBC’s SAUDER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS.
Nominations are invited for the second annual Richard Pollay Prize from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. The prize is awarded for Intellectual Excellence in the Study of Marketing in the Public Interest.
Professor Marvin Goldberg of Pennsylvania State University was the inaugural winner of this prize.
The prize is named for Rick Pollay in recognition of his many and varied contributions as a scholar, teacher, and advocate in the area of Marketing, Advertising and the Public Interest. There will be an annual competition for this prize, which can be awarded to either a senior or junior scholar, recognizing career accomplishments or facilitating promising emergent careers. In keeping with the broad scope of the area, nominations are open to people from a broad range of backgrounds. Criteria for selection include intellectual excellence as demonstrated by published work, contribution to the field, and a passion for mentoring and communication.
The recipient will receive an honorarium of (Canadian) $5000 and be expected to spend approximately 3 full days at UBC. (All travel and related expenses will also be paid.) The recipient will be expected to present a seminar, teach a “master class” for graduate students, and interact with faculty and students.
Nominations may be made by oneself or by others. A maximum one page nomination letter is required. Nominations from the previous year will be considered, but nominators are welcome to send an updated letter. The selection committee is chaired by Professor Charles B. Weinberg (Weinberg@sauder.ubc.ca). Nominations are due by October 15, 2006.
