The Marketing department in the School of Business at the University at Albany, State University of New York, invites applications for a tenure-track position starting September 2007, subject to budgetary approval. We are especially interested in candidates with the following qualifications: earned doctorate in Marketing, or expected completion at or near the time of appointment; fit with existing faculty research interests including socio-cultural influences, family decision making, information search and processing, cognitive response to advertising, involvement, gender; B2B marketing, relationship marketing, and marketing of high tech innovations. In addition to fit with existing faculty research interests, we are interested in someone with some degree of an IT orientation. That ‘orientation’ could mean an interest in data based marketing, geo-demographics, consumer information processing or acquisition on the web, web-based marketing, supply chain management, retail decision support software, or diverse applications of modeling or IT to marketing decision-making. It does not preclude a consumer behavior, marketing strategy, or modeling orientation, but such an orientation would ideally overlap with teaching/research interests above. The appointment will be at the Assistant professor level. Candidates should be committed to teaching and research, and applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population. A Ph.D., D.B.A., or A.B.D. from a college or university accredited by a US Department of Education (DOE) or internationally recognized accrediting organization is a minimum required qualification. The URL for that position opening is: http://hr.albany.edu/vacancy/faculty/P06-70.html .
We have launched a capital campaign to build a new school and have garnered the necessary administrative and alumni support. The President and Provost have made it clear they support an increased emphasis on research and program and student quality, and will provide the resources necessary to obtain them. Thus, we are optimistic about changing the face and substance of our school and department. We are also initiating new courses for the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering: http://cnse.albany.edu/ContentManager/index.cfm?Step=Display&ContentID=2 .
Candidates are requested to send along with their vita, supporting material and three reference letters to: Charles M. Schaninger, Search Committee Chair, Marketing Department, School of Business, University at Albany, State University of New York, Albany, NY 12222.
Review of applications will begin Sept. 3, 2006 and continue until the position is filled.
