Special Issue – Call for Papers

Expanding the Field of Social Marketing

Guest Editor: Walter Wymer, Centre for Socially Responsible Marketing, University of Lethbridge, Canada

Social marketing has been growing in importance as a methodology for improving citizen welfare.  Governments, public health agencies, and nongovernmental organizations need more effective tactics for responding to the AIDS epidemic, growing obesity rates in some countries and hunger in others, the potential for a bird flu pandemic, and other social problems.

In trying to bring about positive societal change, social marketers face numerous obstacles.  Policy makers can be obdurate.  Individuals may seem unconcerned about their own health and welfare.  Unhealthful social customs may be intractable.  This Special Issue aims to bring together the latest research on social marketing to enhance our knowledge on this important subject.

Conceptual, review, and empirical papers are sought in all areas of social marketing.

Deadline for submissions: January 15, 2007
