Call for Papers

THE GEOSPATIAL WEB – How Geo-Browsers, Social Software and the Web 2.0 are Shaping the Network Society

http://geoweb.know-center.at/

You are cordially invited to submit chapters for an upcoming Springer book on the Geospatial Web. By integrating cartographic data with geo-tagged knowledge repositories, the emerging Geospatial Web will revolutionize the production, distribution and consumption of media products. It will have a profound impact on managing knowledge and structuring workflows within and across organizations, and on the interaction between those organizations and their target audiences. For marketers exploring new media for emerging business opportunities, the Geospatial Web has been referred to as "the equivalent of a virgin continent waiting to be planted with billboards" (Roush, 2005). The popularity of contextual advertising and location-based services reflect the technology’s remarkable commercial potential. This edited volume will thus investigate the economic and societal impact of geo-browsing technology, paying particular attention to the marketing of products and services via the Geospatial Web.
