Marketing Strategy

Qualifications and Salary

Arkansas State University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer with a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence among its faculty and staff.  In pursuit of that commitment, the Department of Management and Marketing invites applications for the tenure track position of assistant/associate professor of marketing, beginning August 2007.  The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or D.B.A. in marketing with strong preparation for teaching marketing strategy with a secondary emphasis in any one or more areas such as product management, distribution, sales management, international marketing, services marketing, or marketing research.  A doctorate in marketing acquired no later than the effective date of appointment is preferred, with successful teaching experience at the university level. Candidates who have industrial and/or consulting work experience with a desire to be involved in business outreach activities are most desirable.  Candidates should demonstrate a solid record, which indicates potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and outreach.  Experience with alternative delivery methods for teaching is desired.  Nine month salary will depend on qualifications but will be competitive with other universities of comparable size.  Summer teaching is available.  Summer research support is also available on a competitive basis.  In 2006 summer, approximately 15-20% of College of Business faculty received summer research support.  Support for travel and research is also available from various sources on a case by case basis. 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a graduate course in marketing strategy and undergraduate courses in areas such as product management, distribution, sales management, international marketing, services marketing, or marketing research based on secondary emphasis.   Additionally, he/she will be expected to engage in scholarly research, participate in curriculum and program development, professional activities such as student advising serving on university committees and business outreach.  Teaching load is 12 credit hours but most tenured and tenure track instructors teach 9 credit hours because of research release or graduate teaching.
