I find myself in a delicate situation and would greatly appreciate your advice. A dear friend of mine is set on getting a Goldendoodle, and while I’m hesitant about designer breeds, I want to preserve our friendship above all else. I have some concerns about a specific breeder she’s considering, and I’m hoping to find acceptable alternatives for her in the Southeast, preferably within a 6-hour drive of Atlanta, GA.

The breeder in question raises over 17 liters a year, which raises red flags for me. Additionally, I’ve noticed some questionable discrepancies with their OFA listings not matching the registry. Moreover, they release puppies at just 7 weeks old, which I’ve learned isn’t ideal for proper socialization.

Ideally, I’d love to steer my friend towards an active, wavy/curly-coated retriever that is a recognized AKC breed. If anyone knows of reputable breeders in the Southeast that genuinely prioritize health testing, early socialization, and ethical practices, I’d be incredibly grateful for your recommendations.
