2024 AMA Winter Academic Conference

Unlocking Our Potential

As marketers, we have only just begun to embrace our potential. Our conference theme casts a wide lens on the many ways we, as marketing academics, can unlock our collective potential to be more impactful, more inclusive, appreciate diversity in thoughts and ideas, conduct research with a broader societal focus and embrace innovative methodological approaches to research. As we continue to explore newer topics (e.g., social media) and tools (e.g., machine learning) to address emerging challenges, a lot of work remains across domains that can benefit from our attention.

Initiatives undertaken by our AMA journals and associations over the past decade have started to shift mindsets and encourage researchers to expand their topical and methodological boundaries. These initiatives include:

  • The AMA-EBSCO-RRBM Annual Award for Responsible Research in Marketing
  • Journal of Marketing and Public Policy’s Strategic Vision for Rigor, Relevance, and Inclusivity
  • Journal of Marketing’s Better Marketing for a Better World initiative
  • Journal of Marketing Research’s issue on Mitigation in Marketing

Yet we have just scratched the surface of our potential as market researchers.

Join us for the 2024 AMA Winter Academic Conference hosted at the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort in St. Pete Beach, FL. This event will demonstrate how we, as global, diverse, innovative market researchers, craft value for firms and consumers through our research on consumption, market spaces, and firm practices to effect positive change within the marketplace, the wider society and within our academy.

Journal of Marketing/Journal of Marketing Research Reviewer Workshop

The Journal of Marketing Research (JMR) and the Journal of Marketing (JM) will collaborate to host a reviewer workshop to familiarize participants with how to write fair, thorough and constructive reviews. 

Sales SIG Reception

The Sales SIG will be hosting their conference reception at Mastry’s Brewing Co.! The venue, founded in 2014, was the first craft brewery on St. Pete Beach and features a diverse set of beers on tap. Join your fellow sales scholars for a brewery tour, tasting flights, drinks and appetizers! The 2024 conference will be hosted at the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort. This resort is situated on 25 acres of vibrant, white-sand beachfront and offers attendees direct access to a wide array of restaurants and many picturesque social hubs to network and connect with other conference participants.

Please reserve your overnight accommodations early as there are a limited number of AMA special rates available. The discount rate cut-off date is January 22, 2024.

Please know that any hotel room booked outside the AMA negotiated block may not be eligible for the discounted rate. Those reservations may also have a different cancellation policy and will not be eligible for reimbursement in the case of event cancellation.
