John is Managing Partner of Brand.Powered Group, a strategic branding and marketing consultancy. He has more than 20 years of consulting and practitioner experience with iconic brands including Sony, McDonald’s, Miller Lite, Heinz, Marlboro, Suave, International Truck & Engine, Chevrolet, TAG Heuer, and Pepsi. He’s also worked in industrial markets for multi-nationals such as PPG, Intertek, and Premier Farnell plc. Regardless of category, John brings disciplined thinking that drives business growth through multichannel marketing strategies.

John was previously a partner at Vivaldi Partners Group, a strategic consultancy, as well Executive Vice President at Bagby and Company. Additionally, he was a Director of Marketing at Sony Electronics. John began his career in advertising where he worked in account management at agencies including DDB and Leo Burnett.

An avid student of the business, John has an insatiable curiosity for all aspects of marketing. He can often be found scouring the web or scouting grocery aisles, drug stores, and big box retailers on nights and weekends. He’s forever on the lookout for new brands, innovative packaging, cross-channel marketing tactics, and companies designing extraordinary customer experiences.

John has served as chairman/co-chair of the annual strategic conferences of the American Marketing Association (AMA) and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Chicago chapter. He also heads the Speakers Bureau for the Heartland Mobile Council. He has spoken at The Conference Board and received multiple industry honors, including EFFIE (5 times) for marketing effectiveness and awards from the American Advertising Federation, the Promotional Marketing Association, the Point-of-Purchase Advertising Institute, and the London International Awards.

John graduated from Syracuse University.
