Conference Theme

Uncharted Territories: Consumer Rights, Well-Being, & Public Policy

The Marketing & Public Policy Conference (MPPC) is the premier national and international event for marketing academics, public policy makers, and marketing practitioners interested in social and public policy. Our conference theme is, “Uncharted Territories: Consumer Rights, Wellbeing, & Public Policy.” Our motivation in selecting this theme was to encourage research on difficult but pressing social issues, many (but not all) of which involve conflicts between individual rights (e.g. freedom, privacy) and individual or societal wellbeing (e.g. health, environmental protection). This theme includes topics that are politically charged in today’s environment or have yet to receive attention or be explored by the academic community. We hope to provide an open forum for productive discussion and debate representing a variety of viewpoints and ideologies. We are interested in research that will make an impact on these pressing social issues via theoretical development or pragmatic application.

We also desire to intentionally involve younger scholars in this conference in order to provide mentorship for the next generation of public policy researchers. As such, we are interested in session ideas that involve practical dialogue between experienced and younger scholars in crafting public policy research. We welcome submissions that involve undergraduate researchers and/or pedagogical implications.
