  • 2:00-3:15 PM: Paul E. Green Award Session (Wellesley - Third Floor). 

  • In a panel discussion, authors of finalist papers of the Green award will discuss the research process that led to their papers, or “how their paper was made.” They will talk about how the idea for the paper came about, the role of the peer review process, co-author roles and experiences, and challenges faced. The winner of the Green award this year is:   

  • 3:30-4:45 PM:  When Does Retargeting Work? Information Specificity in Online Advertising | William F. O’Dell Award Session​ (Wellesley - Third Floor). 

  • The Journal of Marketing Research’s annual William F. O’Dell Award is given for the best article published five years earlier in JMR that has made a significant, long-run contribution to marketing theory, and/or methodology, and/or practice. The winner of this year’s O’Dell Award is Anja Lambrecht and Catherine Tucker’s paper, “When Does Retargeting Work? Information Specificity in Online Advertising” (JMR, October 2013, Volume 50, Issue 5). 

    This session will highlight the contribution of this paper to the field, both from the authors’ perspectives and from the perspectives of other authors whose work has built on this foundation   

    • Moderator:  Rebecca Hamilton, Co-Editor, Journal of Marketing Research

    • Presenters: Catherine Tucker will briefly present the award winning paper, “When Does Retargeting Work? Information Specificity in Online Advertising,” describe the process of writing it, the review process, and follow-up work she has done in this area. 

    • Garrett Johnson will talk about his work, including his paper with Lewis and Nubbemeyer on "Ghost Ads: Improving the Economics of Measuring Online Ad Effectiveness," in the Journal of Marketing Research (2018’s Green Award winner).

    • Alex Bleier (via video) will talk about his work on online advertising, including his paper with Eisenbeiss, "Personalized Online Advertising Effectiveness: The Interplay of What, When and Where," in Marketing Science.

    • Paul Hoban will talk about his work, including his paper with Bucklin, “Effects of Internet Display Advertising in the Purchase Funnel," in the Journal of Marketing Research​.

  • 5:30-6:30 PM:  JMR Editorial Review Board Meeting and Reception Meeting - by invitation only (Salon A/B - Fourth Floor)
