​In Mid-February, the AMA launched a new Integrated Academic Content Team.

​In mid-February, the AMA realigned its academic support staff into a single department: Integrated Academic Content. This new team includes staff supporting the AMA’s four journals, academic-centric conferences, academic special interest groups, Academic Council, and related academic community content projects.

The new team presents an incredible opportunity to support many of the collaborations happening organically within the marketing academy. Whether it is better integrating AMA journals into our conferences, supporting SIG projects that span channels, or creating web-friendly conference content that engages members unable to attend. 

Matt Weingarden, who has served as Academic Council liaison and conference manager, was promoted to serve as director overseeing the group and Marilyn Stone was promoted to serve as senior managing editor to ensure consistent journal production. Copy editors, Michelle Kritselis and Tamara Ghattas were promoted to associated managing editors and Monica Gerhardt was hired to serve as the primary point of contact for academic conferences and special interest groups.

Monica Gerhardt | Assistant Manager
In her new role, Monica manages the content planning process for Winter and Summer academic conferences.  In addition, she coordinates leadership resources and community relationships for 17 academic special interest groups known as SIGs.  Before joining the AMA this year, her career focused on university career services, primarily at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

Tamara Ghattas | Associate Managing Editor
Tamara edits manuscripts and prepares graphics for all of the AMA’s journals, as well as managing the peer-review process for Journal of Marketing Research and Journal of Public Policy & Marketing. Before joining the AMA as a copy editor in October 2015, she worked at the University of Chicago Press and in various roles in nonprofit administration.

Michelle Kritselis | Associate Managing Editor
In addition to copy editing the AMA journals, Michelle serves as the primary point of contact for the Journal of Marketing and Journal of International Marketing review teams. She is also a system admin for these journals in the ScholarOne Manuscripts peer-review site. Michelle joined the AMA in January 2013 as Copy Editor. She has a background in theatre and currently serves on the board of Brown Paper Box Co., a Chicago theatre company she co-founded in 2010.

Marilyn Stone | Senior Managing Editor
In her capacity as senior managing editor, Marilyn oversees production of the four AMA journals (Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, and Journal of International Marketing), managing copy editor workflow; liaising with page composition, print, and online partners; and communicating with authors. In addition, she handles licensing and permissions for AMA content. Marilyn has been with the AMA since 2010, serving as a copy editor and managing editor prior to her present position.

Matt Weingarden | Director
As director, Matt Weingarden serves as a primary liaison between the AMA Global Support Center and the AMA’s scholarly community. He is responsible for directing operational, logistical, and strategic aspects for Integrated Academic Content, including academic journals, conferences, special interest groups and other associated initiatives. Matt joined the AMA in July 2012. Prior to becoming director, he served in several roles all related to supporting the AMA Academic Community. He previously worked at the University of Chicago, American Association of Diabetes Educators, and University of Michigan.
