The AMA is pleased to announce that Simon Blanchard, Amber Epp and Girish Mallapragada will serve as chairs of the 2020 AMA Summer Academic Conference scheduled to be held on August 21-23 in San Francisco, CA.
Conference Theme: Bridging Gaps: Marketing in an Age of Disruption
In the last decade, marketing has been affected by disruption in ways that nobody could have foreseen. From big data, to social media, to the sharing economy, technology has disrupted product innovation, pricing structures, branding strategies, and distribution platforms. This disruption raises novel questions that require new thinking, research methods and tools. The conference is a platform to bring together academics and practitioners to set the agenda for this future.
Simon Blanchard serves on the faculty of the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. He studies consumer decision making via a combination of experimental research and statistical modeling – particularly as applied to personal finance, and categorization. His research has been published in Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, and Psychometrika. He is an editorial review board member at Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, and International Journal of Research in Marketing. He is currently a member of the AMA Academic Council. Blanchard received his PhD from Pennsylvania State University.
Amber Epp is on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Business. Her research advances an interdisciplinary perspective of the relationship between family and the marketplace. Her work has been published in Journal of Consumer Research and Journal of Marketing. She serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Marketing and is an editorial review board member of Journal of Consumer Research. She currently is a member of the Journal of Consumer Research Policy Board. Epp received her PhD from University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Girish Mallapragada is on the faculty at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. His research interests focus on open innovation, social networks, new product development, user generated content, and inter-firm relationships. He has published in Journal of Marketing, Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, Management Science and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. He is an editorial review board member at Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and Customer Needs & Solutions. He currently serves as chair of the AMA Marketing Strategy SIG. Mallapragada received his PhD from Pennsylvania State University.
